How can I learn Italian more quickly, since I already know French and Spanish?

November 9, 2008 by admin · 3 Comments

I'm looking for some kind of Italian learning program that caters to people who already speak other Romance languages, or at least moves quite quickly. I'm especially looking for something I can listen to in the car, since I have a very heavy commute… I want to avoid something like the Pimsleur program, I have it now and it's driving me crazy since it repeats everything so many times; and I can already understand Italian, for the most part, I just can't speak it.

Thanks!

if u really interested in italian, i suggest u better buy 'digital publishing' italiano 1. there are two versions of them: V10 and V11. V10 is designed for a normal computer, means u will not be able to play it without CD. V11 is the other way.

the software is not expensive and very helpful.

Place to learn italian in italy near the snow?

November 3, 2008 by admin · 5 Comments

Hi

Does anyone know somewhere in Italy that I can go learn italian that is close to skiing. I am hoping to go in January and planning on staying in Florence for 3 weeks to learn italian then wanted to go to another school.

Thanks!

Jess

There are a couple of ski resorts not far from Florence. Ever heard of Abetone or Abbadia San Salvatore?
You could go there to ski on weekends, just be sure to reserve your hotel rooms well in advance, as the place tends to be packed during the holiday season (which in Italy lasts until January 6th).

I really want to learn how to speak Italian but dont know from where. What's a good website or program to learn Italian?

Hello,

That is great that you want to learn Italian.

Pimsleur Recorded books are great, sort of similar to Rosetta stone method. Pimsleur recorded books are recorded conversations.

Here are some good books that can be helpful,

Teach yourself Italian
Colloquial Italian
Berlitz Italian
Living Language Italian
Conversational Italian
Lonely planet Italian

www.byki.com, here is a free website where you can download the software to give you a starting point in learning Italian.
