Any fast, easy and free ways to learn how to speak Italian?

October 12, 2008 by admin

I just moved to Italy a week ago and I am getting SO frustrated not being able to understand anyone…. so like the title said, is there any fast, easy and free ways to learn Italian?

No. There are no quick and easy ways to learn a foreign language, free or otherwise.

But looking at the positive, you have already done what you need to do to learn as quickly and effectively as possible … move to Italy.

You could try asking at the Municipio if your local council provides classes in Italian as a second language for immigrants. Failing that, look for a private tutor – "insegnante a domcilio". Not free of course, but reasonable by English standards, and certainly effective.

It's a very easy language to learn. You should have actually purchased some items and started a long time before the move–after all, you don't just decide one day to move to another country, that planning takes months if not years and you had time. But now that you can't do that, your best bet is to find a course online, such as Italiano per stranieri, that caters to foreigners. Here are a few links:

Sorry to say this to you, but there are no easy ways to learn a language.

For you it can be easier than for others as you hear Italian
all the time, but buy a grammar book and learn, go through Italian words and listen to Italians speaking and try to speak yourself. Perhaps you will find an Italian friend to help you. Good luck!

    Welcome in Italy! :-)
Don't be afraid, the best way to learn italian is to live here! So don't worry, get a dictionary to tell what you need to tell, ask people to speak slowly, and in a short time you'll be able to understand italian people. I'm italian and in november i knew a girl who came here from Czech Republic. She did't understand ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, but I met her in april and she spoke italian really well for being a stranger. Sorry for my english, and GOOD LUCK :-)

get a dictionary and read a lot, watch a lot of TV, try to speak and listen to people…
anyway in italy most people know a little bit of english, so if you are really stuck you can still rely on english.
from my own experience it's only a matter of time. good luck!

Try to find an on line course. Or find an Italian that speaks fluent English to teach you.
