Are there any good reasons to learn Italian?
November 27, 2008 by admin · 10 Comments
Or is it a waste of time. I am actually fluent in French and english and with Spanish(intermedaite to proficient after taking 5 years of it). This summer I can't decide whether I Should I try to learn Italian on my own or go study abroad for one month in Italy (to gain intermediate skills) or just to Spain to become fluent in it? whats better?
if ur thinking from a geographical point of view (as in how many countries speak it), its pretty much useless. less than five speak it as an official language.
but it wouldn't hurt to know alittle, especially when u meet a hot italian chick.
How hard is it to learn Italian?

I learned some spanish back in high school, so I do have some language experience. I’ve heard that can make the process a bit easier. I’d love to learn italian, as a hobby; just for the heck of it & to expand my knowledge. but I’m worried it will be super hard. And what’s the best way to go about learning it– Books/cds, etc?
Well I'm an italian girl and I want to improve my english. If you know some spanish you'll understand better italian but don't think it'll be the same thing because spanish and italian have similar words but they are quite different. Anyway if you want to learn italian I'm here
(I also know latin as we study it in Italy). You can write me an e-mail. Bye.

im trying to learn italian the quickest way possible. does anybody know any free online things or ways to learn it quickly?
These are two good websites to learn the basics:
http://learnitalian.elanguageschool.net/
http://italian.speak7.com/
Another good way to learn that i suggest is watching Italian movies with english subtitles. This way you get used to the sounds and to the accent.
Hope I helped

canteremo per il Mondo;

How can I learn italian?
November 19, 2008 by admin · 12 Comments
I'm italian and this year in school we're really studying our heritage. its fun. i've always been interested in learning, and i tried last summer but i couldn't stay motivated. it isn't offered as a language course at our school and i really wanna learn! i know bits and pieces, but can't speak in sentances. any advice will be appreciated!
my parents are both italian… actually my moms only half but they aren't fluent. they're parents stopped speaking italian when they moved 2 the US.
Method #1- Move to Italy.
Method #2- Marry an Italian-speaking Italian.
Method #3- Eat a lot of spaghetti and meat-a-balls
Method #4- Enroll in an on-line Italian class and, if already married-eliminate Method #2. Also, moderate Method #3.
How long would it take to learn italian fully?

If I study italian in an institute 2 hours per week, how long, approximately, would it take to learn the language fully?
A couple years, at least. You should supplement with lessons from other sources that are different. Michel Thomas is relaxed & you listen while he teaches two students. He has tidbits about everyday usage if you were to speak to an Italian. Mastering Italian is also good. Developed by the foreign service institute.
This covers more ground than one style of learning and it helps with changing that internal English grammar. You also need to use the language. Practice speaking, read it, listen to it.
