How can I learn Italian more quickly, since I already know French and Spanish?

November 9, 2008 by admin · 3 Comments

I'm looking for some kind of Italian learning program that caters to people who already speak other Romance languages, or at least moves quite quickly. I'm especially looking for something I can listen to in the car, since I have a very heavy commute… I want to avoid something like the Pimsleur program, I have it now and it's driving me crazy since it repeats everything so many times; and I can already understand Italian, for the most part, I just can't speak it.

Thanks!

if u really interested in italian, i suggest u better buy 'digital publishing' italiano 1. there are two versions of them: V10 and V11. V10 is designed for a normal computer, means u will not be able to play it without CD. V11 is the other way.

the software is not expensive and very helpful.

How do I learn Italian fast?

I am just a farm boy, and I met this Italian supermodel. I know she really likes me, and i have only one chance to impress her. what are some good ways to learn Italian fast?

It’ll help if you already know a romance language like French or (even better) Spanish. Learn the pronounciation of all the different sounds, it doesn’t take long because the pronounciation is a lot easier and more regular than English. Next learn how to conjugate the -are, -ire and -ere verbs, and learn a few irregular but important ones, like avere and essere. Also learn the genders and how they change in the plural. All of this will only require writing out a few lists and learning them, then work on building your vocabulary. You could become conversational in less than a week if you stick at it and put the time in. Good luck!

What is the fastest way to learn a language on your own? Italian?

I really want to learn Italian on my own, by myself.

I might get confused because starting in August by fall or maybe next term like in January 09 Im going to take French as an elective.

Italian comes first ive been studying put i keep forgetting i need like a schechule or something or studu time……..

french could help because they are very similair, i speak fluent italian and then i started learning french and i caught up with people who had been learning for 2 or 3 years i am now one of the best speakers in my class. you could try and buy one of those teach yourself guides, (even though i admit they teach you nothing.) or maybe find some online course. you could try listening to itlaian music so your ears get used to the sound of the voices and you may pick up some words, and you may even try getting some old italian movies and watching them with english subtitles, and there's loads of italian movies for everyone's tastes and they are pretty cheap on ebay and amazon.you might try and find someone who speaks italian on the internet (or pen pal) and see if they will chat to you and help you improve.

Thanks so much I am going to be a nun and I have to go to Italy and so I need to learn Italian! LoL
That is not so exspenisve( like Rosetta stone!)

I know what you mean, Rosetta Stone is nice but quite expensive. If you want to just get your feet wet try the free way and search your local library for books teaching Italian. Also, remember to check out an English to Italian dictionary.

How Long Would it Take to Learn Italian in Florence?

October 6, 2008 by admin · 7 Comments

Hi

I am thinking of travelling to Florence next year and wanted to learn italian. My mums side of the family is italian and they all speak it and I dont so I would like to finally learn it. How long do you think it would take to learn italian if I was doing 4 hours contact time, going on excursions and living in Florence. I can understand a bit but not speak it very well.

Thanks for the help!

To understand the Italian language you must stay more than 3 months, to speak it about 6 months.
You can learn a poor course of Italian in 6 weeks, if you want only to amuse yourself in this excellent city.
